Manzanar Up Close

Jan 17 2016
I've always liked looking for books for the kids that would be interesting while also telling about history. Years ago the kids had read books about the Manzanar Camp for the Japanese in California during WW II. Later they would read a book in high school on this same part of history. Ryan is the last to read about Manzanar (again) but now in high school. The Skirball Cultural Center next to Ed's sisters house was displaying photos taken at Manzanar by Ansel Adams. It was really interesting to see the actual pictures from the books we read aloud years ago. It was pretty much what I had pictured in my mind reading those books years ago. Too bad this display doesn't travel to all the high schools so kids today could see what America did to preserve her security during wartime. Too many actually think our borders have never closed....or strict precautions ever taken when making decisions for what is best for America.
