Mop Baseball

Never a dull moment shopping with these two...they actually played baseball with my little football and a mop! The ball went pretty far!!! Than they spent a LOT of time ramming into each other....There's a reason I grocery shop by myself!!!

Back To School Supplies

Today was Back To School Brigade. We zipped over and picked up all the school supplies for the boys. One of the perks of a little base is all the school supplies are provided! Nice!!! The Dude In Cammies met us over there. Afterwards he walked back to his office and we pretended we were spies and stealthily followed him in the jeep. I'm sure he had no idea he was being tabbed. We probably watch waaaay too much Burn Notice. We dubbed Ed 'The Tall Guy'. We have a funny video too. Life in the desert...we get bored easily and play in the land of make believe.....

And how often is your kids orientation in a chapel?

Desert Alerts

We traded in our tornado and hurricane alerts for Sand & Thunderstorm alerts and of course Flash Floods! Every duty station brings a new set of alerts to look for. Wondering if there is such a place that has zero alerts to retire at! I want a place that is warm all year round except for Thanksgiving Week and Dec 1st thru Jan 3rd, those dates can be chilly but preferably not below 50 degrees!!! It can even snow, but only from December 23-26th and not enough to close roads and stores, just to make a snowman and have a snowball fight! OH! AND this place must be right by beautiful beaches with crystal clear and warm waters and of course surrounded by coral or something that keeps sharks away from the shore! And also a place with no snakes or spiders or other creepy crawlie things!!! Where oh where could this place possibly be?!!!

Favorite Summer Sandwich

I made my favorite sandwich. It is almost the same lunch all summer long! Provolone and pepper jack cheese, lemon cucumbers, tomatoes, bread & butter pickles, banana peppers with a sweet chili sauce! Today I ate my sandwich in the backyard listening to the thunder roll in as the clouds turned dark. Just a totally perfect summer afternoon here in the middle of the desert....although my people would totally disagree on this sandwich of mine being yummy! BUT! I'm not asking any of them to eat it!!! Mine, ALL mine!!!!

Ty & Two Dogs Sitting On The Floor

This was just too cute! Both big dogs sitting with Ty...i got a quick picture, and it always has to be quick with my people! Hands fly up to cover their faces at lightning speed, well even faster than lightening! But i think Ty was just too tired and wow, both dogs are even looking at me!

Intently Watching

Just another Thursday in a Marines home! All Marines are charlie on Fridays, so uniform assembly on Thursdays! Bella was very much engaged in watching her Papa put his uniform together! She watched until he was done! She even had a few grumbles to throw in there!

Edge Dressing can be a dangerous thing....it should never be used indoors or over anything you do NOT want stained!!! Oops, our front patio now officially says a Marine lives here!

Top Secret Cookies

I have actually finished this entire package of cookies in secret! Nobody found my secret stash! This is a first! It took TWO weeks and somehow i managed to keep it all Top Secret! They still don't know and never will unless they read this, which they never will!!! Soooo, I think I need to go buy another package of cookies for MEEEEEEE!!!! But meanwhile will dispose of this in a bag and outside in the big trashcan where it will never be discovered!!!

Garden Sandwiches

Always tough leaving Grandma & Grandpas but having yummy vegetables from their garden is giving me super yummy summer sandwiches!!! And, extra nice that i am the ONLY one that likes these kinda sandwiches!!! Yep, pretty much every meal and snack is a delicious veggie sandwich or just yummy veggies!!!

My First Green Drink

Jackie got me a Vita Mix for my birthday! This was my first drink I made. I decided on a green drink. I learned that I shouldn't follow the directions and celery is quite the dominate flavor! It was drinkable and SUPER healthy but I think I will eat my celery rather than drink it! Ed was totally unimpressed with the celery flavor! I might not be able to get him to EVER try a drink i make again!!

Bella & For Get It

We were playing our new game For Get It and Bella thought she was playing too! It was hilarious! She was so intent on watching every single roll and she would get excited when we got excited or totally sad when someone rolled all three For Get It's!

Reno Time

My favorite place...I just love sitting on the fence talking to my furry friends. Today we listened to The Piano Guys until it was time for them to head back to the stables.

Catfish Dinner

Ed LOVES catfish. I find it hideous. I've never tasted it, but just the thought of tasting it is enough to keep me from really tasting it! I decided I would make it for Ed tonight. He loved it and ate both fillets. I think I will make it more often now that I know I can make it. I made the boys bourbon chicken, now that was good!!! The boys REALLY loved it and said that i need to make it more often!

Saturday Morning Gym Time

Happy Cookie Birthday!

My friend Jill brought me a giant yummy birthday cookie! It was delicious and the boys were quite happy that I shared with them! Birthdays don't get much better than giant chocolate chip cookies!!!

Pieology

We tried a new pizza place, Pieology. Totally loved it! Pizza doesn't get any better than designing your own pizza EXACTLY how you want it! It was kinda like being at Subway, except building a pizza! Total thumbs up from all of us!

Xander Eats First!

Dinner tonight was delicious sirloin burgers on the grill. Xander ate first...TWO yummy burgers!!! He licked his plate clean! Xander LOVES coming to Grandmas for dinner!!! We all do!!!

Tree Climbing Fun

This tree at Grandma & Grandpa Miks has been a favorite to climb for all the grandkids! All but the VERY youngest have climbed it regularly! Of course Ty and Ryan had to climb it!!!

Check Inside Before Turning On Washer

I hate spiders, LITERALLY! But for some reason they must love me and they seem to do their best when surprising me with their visits! Today it was the washing machine....fortunately for me the husband was home....unfortunately for me he looked at it, said goodbye and left...I turned off the water and quickly looked around for something to scoop the almost dead spider in that I didn't mind throwing away while trying to convince Ty and Ryan to get it for me!!! Ty saved the day and now my laundry is back on track!!!

Time To Unwrap!

Oh my goodness! He was a TOTAL baby Thursday morning when it came time to unwrap his leg! But I finally got it all off and this is what we have! The tape will have to come off another day....

No Rest For This Guy!

He took the first day to be drugged up and than starting that night he has been non stop either working in Marine stuff or school work. The nice thing about living about a mile from his office is his Marines can just swing by the house when they need to talk to him!

But every so often he takes a pain pill and crashes!

Time For Shark Week Donuts!

I went to get donuts for Shark Week....the lady at Dunkin Donuts looked at me like I was off my rocker asking about the shark donuts. She continued to make me feel like a lost idiot in the desert as she went on and on about how am the only one watching shark week...blah, blah, blah....and than I guess she realized maybe she should offer to let me order some as I was walking away. Sooooo, I ordered donuts for the next morning to pick up. They were fun.....and a reminder we live in Barstow!

 

A Noodle Surprise

Ty and Ryan wouldn't even try it but this teriyaki noodle surprise was beyond delicious!!! The chopped pineapple was the added touch, not pictured yet!

The Daily Veggie Burger

The Dude In Bed has taken a liking to a grilled turkey, onion, mushroom cheeseburger everyday for lunch. Since he can't exercise much right now it's being wrapped in lettuce. He says it's delicious, but messy. I'll take that as a compliment!

Doggie Park

Woke up this morning to MUCH cooler weather here in the desert! It was in the 60's!!! Opened all the windows and Ryan and I took the dogs for a walk and a stop at the doggie park. I think they liked having their leashes clipped off and being able to run freely!!! Although Leah acted like she was dying of heat stroke!

Hat In Training

Ed has seen this hat when we were in NC but had no idea what it meant, he just liked it. While at the Desert Mavericks game he realized that was where the hat came from, so he happily bought himself one. Now it is in training on the piano getting its bill just right.

After Surgery Drive Home

Ed could not stay awake for longer than a few minutes at a time. It was sooo funny! He would ask me something and than be snoring before I could answer.

Ed was starving and the thought of jello, sprite, and soup broth was a no go to him! So we stopped at In N Out and he got a Protein Burger. He was happy with his lettuce wrapped burger and thank goodness it didn't make him sick!!!
