Farewell From The Stables

It is really sinking in that we are leaving....The Dude In Cammies had his first farewell today. It was at the stables. There are several events going on from Redding California to Washington DC and Colorado that they wanted to have his farewell from the Mounted Color Guard before they hit the road. The stables is always such a peaceful place....I went straight from work so i was a little early. I spent some time with the horses and Kishaba and Naha, love those two barn cats!

Kisses for Ford

He loves the very top of his head rubbed, right where his bangs grow in.

Moses grilled some yummy food and the Marines arrived.

This is such a small base so everyone knows everyone. It was fun just sitting and listening to the Marines. They are hilarious! I had a delicious bacon cheeseburger.

Ed said a few words to the Marines but other than that it was just a perfect afternoon with some of Americas finest.....

Later Ed and Gunny Flores went for a little ride.....

Trying Hard To Bowl

No work for Ed or i and no school for the boys. We wanted to something but none of us felt like driving 2 plus hours to go do something.....soooooo we decided to go bowling on base.  I went on line and double checked the hours. It said it opened at 10 am. We arrived at 11 am and there was a sign on the door that it would open at 1 and an apology for any inconvenience.....so typical of this duty station. I've enjoyed my time here but really looking forward to living on a REAL Marine base again and having things to do close by and not having to drive HOURS to go do something!!! We decided to go check the bowling alley out in town. It didn't open until 4 pm!!!!  Oh my gosh!!! like seriously it's just eat or watch a movie in this town!!! Drives me crazy!!!  It's super windy today so hiking, shooting, and riding horses is out, so literally leaves eating, watching a movie, or go bowling......ugh!!!!! So we killed some time running a few errands and went bowling later on base when it opened. As you can tell by the score we don't bowl often!!!  We are more of an outdoor family but on these crazy windy days we are a bit limited on things to do if we don't want to sit at the house!!!

Ryan gave us all our name

Snazzzzzzy shoes here!

Gonna Miss My Private Gym

I've been sooo beyond spoiled this duty station gym wise!!! I have this room to myself every day. I set up my circuit and do a chunk of my weights in here with biking, squats, abs, and ball work out in here all by myself every morning. Gonna miss having my own private gym when we move!!!!

Wilmington NC 2,554 Mi

Whenever we went to Wilmington we would always see the Barstow Ca 2,554 MI sign and always joke about how horrible it would be to end up there. Well we ended up at the other end of that sign here in Barstow. We finally went and got a picture of it! I wanted it last year with all of us in Santa hats for our Christmas picture, but didn't happen.

Family Christmas Card 2015

And in five minutes or less our family picture for our Christmas card is done. I would have liked to have moved the horses the other direction so they wouldn't be so bright, but Mr. Hottie was already annoyed and done so this is the shot.

Kisses For Rookie

Can you tell we just LOVE this guy?!!! He's a REALLY good horse. He is very much adored.

Spur Ride 2015

I earned my second set of Spurs today on The Dark Horse Spur Ride on Fort Irwin. It was a LOT of fun!!! I got a perfect score on the horse and sword course and the grenade throwing course! Yay!!! Surprised myself on that! Was totally sore afterwards but totally worth it! Had a blast with the wives of Wolf Pack!

FedEx Arrived With Christmas Trees

Santa came to our middle of nowhere neighborhood in a FedEx truck full of Christmas Trees today!

Base Club, MCLB Barstow

The club on base is the happening place for any base function. The Dude In Cammies even has his own cup holder here!
There was nobody here while Jennefer and the kids and I were setting up for the Single Marine Thanksgiving Dinner for later tonight so I took some pictures of this cool little place....
It is very horsie here since the stables are at this duty station.

I just love each of these horses.....

Gas Shut Off!

Tonight is the Single Marine Thanksgiving Dinner. All the spouses here on base cook a feast for all the single Marines that live in the barracks. Of course there happens to be a gas leak and the gas is turned off for the day. All our ovens are gas!!! The Dude In Cammies found ovens around base for us to use. My two turkeys were ordered to the barracks kitchen that has two ovens. So, I headed over there....
Turkeys were secured in my vehicle...
We arrive to discover an awesome facility!!! Ty, Ryan, and Taylor were put on Turkey Duty and stayed at the barracks while they cooked. I went and filled up a picnic basket of drinks and food for them. I think it's safe to say they will survive hardship duty!

Jane Wayne Day 2015

Oct 16
Jane Wayne day has arrived again. I missed not having Vicki with me this time but Jennifer and I had a blast!  It poured on us during the O Course, Drill, and HITT, but we dried out on the rifle range and it actually ended up being a warm beautiful day!
The Dude In Cammies loaded all three of mags and took care of getting my weapon where it needed to be. Which was great because my arms still felt like jello from the O Course and ammo can lift, 108 lifts in 2 minutes, yep, gonna be sore later!!!!
Some of the Marines that made the rifle range happen...
Shooting the M-16....
Sitting the pits watching my target and marking and all the ups downs of raising and lowering the targets. It's actually really fun to work the pits...
The lunch I picked....but I never had time to eat it....

We later toured where everything is refurbished....busy place!
