First Broken Item

My jewelry box I bought in Okinawa is the first item we have found broken this move, so far. I'm not sure how this even happened!!! It's like it was dropped from the roof onto cement. The moving company happened to call at this moment! I told them that so far just my jewelry box. He got the information and the value and told me to send a picture and the check would be in the mail. Wow!!! That was painless! Hopefully nothing else is broken!!!

Update, the check came in the mail before I had even emailed the photo! That was fast!!!

Great To Be Back On A (REAL) Marine Base!

I was out walking with little Bella this morning and hear quiet chitter chatter and click click click. I had looked around, my contacts weren't in yet, actually still aren't in as i type this....but mascara is on, so blind i will be today! But ANYWAYS!!!! I keep hearing these soft voices and clicks and BAM!!! i see some movement and realize there are Marines right across the street from me with their weapons practicing something. Wow, it just feels soooo good to be back on a REAL Marine base again!!! I'm not putting down MCLB Barstow, that was just such a tiny base with hardly any Marines i just didn't see training like this there as i was walking my dog, or walking anywhere for that matter!!! What a great start to my Monday!!!

Dogs Got Out!

Oh my gosh!!! Of all days for the dogs to get out!!! I had closed the back gate several times due to the packers going in and out thru the back yard packing up the patio furniture. I let the dogs out in the backyard to go potty before I left. Ed was out in town turning in our modem for our internet service and the boys were already at TLF. I heard Bella bark but didn't see her at the back door. Than realized it was coming from the front door!!! Opened the door and sure enough, there she was! She came right in. I ran out of the house looking for the big dogs. They were nowhere in sight. A kid across the street pointed the direction they had gone. I jumped in my car and went searching for my furry kids. The mailman pointed towards the direction they had gone. I circled the block and zipped up to the dog park. I got out and ran up to the park and sure enough, there they were! Both were sitting in the grass under the tree in the shade breathing like they were going to die!!! Leah sounded like she was having an asthma attack!!! Crazy dogs!!! They are not cut out to be sprinting in the blazing sun of the desert!!! Especially Leah in her thick fur coat!!!! These knuckleheads are professional AC loungers!!! They jumped right into my nice cool car and just plopped!!!! Sooo glad I found them and got them home!!!! Lots of prayers were said as I zipped around the neighborhood looking for them!!!!

We Are On The Road!

Ed had hoped to be on the road between 9:30 and 10 this morning, and we were off by 10 am! The skies were a beautiful blue and the white fluffy clouds were perfectly placed! It was a gorgeous day in the desert!

I had Bella in my car with Ty and Ed had Ryan in the front seat of the jeep with him and Leah and Jasper in the backseat. Leah immediately let us all know she was not happy with a car ride!

Of course Jasper thought the whole back seat was for him so Leah just squished her hiney in the corner and sat there with the funniest faces!

I wonder if she is having flashbacks to her ride to the airport almost 2 years ago to come out here from NC?!!! She is NOT a fan of flying!!! We waved goodbye to Taylor and Jennifer and we were off! The ride went fine. Bella thought she should sit in my lap the whole time! Crazy girl! I put her bed in the front seat so she could just lay down and relax the whole drive, but nope, she would have none of that! She preferred to be a stress ball the whole time reminding me every minute or so how not happy she was about being in a moving car!!!

It was funny at stop lights pulling up side by side and rolling down the windows so the dogs could see each other. I really wish i knew what went on inside of their heads!!! Their facial expressions are hilarious!!!

Going thru the gate was too funny! Bella had to say hi to the gate guard, lucky for her he likes dogs and lucky for me she didn't growl at the Marine!!!

When we arrived at Camp Pendleton Leah had managed to shed about half of her coat in the jeep as well as leave about a gallon of slobber everywhere! We went straight to housing.  While Ed went in, the boys and i took the dogs out to go potty! We survived the shortest PCS EVER with furry kids!!!

Moving Means Crazy Food To Eat

While i am cleaning out the pantry and i am googling recipes with the ingredients i have on hand. I am refusing to grocery shop for anything other than milk, fruit and bread types of food! Soooo, with the peppermint marshmellows and chocolate chips i made a yummy pink rocky road and with the fruit, pineapple, etc i made a big ambrosia salad! YUM!!!

Pumpkin Pie In May

It's getting close to moving so I spent the day cleaning out the pantry. There was actually some canned food that had expired before we even arrived here!!!! I guess i missed those when i was cleaning out the pantry at our Bonanza house in NC! But i went thru everything and got rid of everything i pretty much haven't used this duty station. There was a can of pumkin that was going to go bad by the end of May, so i had to make a pumpkin pie today....moving is rough sometimes.

Arrived In Barstow!

Aug 1 2014
At 7:11 PM Ty, Jasper, Bella, and I reached the gate to our new home, MCLB Barstow!

It was our last long day of driving! We left NM this morning and both dogs had zero desire to get up and get going to only get in a car for another day of driving! They were both done! We were all done!

All week Jasper had been panting in my ear...

But today he was just crashed out not wanting to look out the windows anymore...

But Bella was enjoying the scenery...especially all the trees going thru Flagstaff Az! It was pretty chilly on that part of the drive too!
