New Years Eve 2008

What a fun night! We had a blast and all the kids stayed awake until way after midnight! When we were Stateside i always would set the clocks up a few hours in the afternoon of New Years Eve and have a huge party with the kids and thier friends going on New York time and the whole ball dropping at midnight, which was like 8 PM really and than the kids would usually be asleep by 10 pm! Can NOT do that over here on Oki since we are a day ahead of New York! But we have had some great New Years here with our friends and this one was by far the best! It was freezing, well freezing for us as it was in the 30's, so that is like totally cold for us!!! LOL! But we were outside and had our canopy's together and two fires going. We got the balloons up for the midnight balloon drop and they did not blow away before drop time! The dental floss worked great on getting the bags of balloons sewed together! It was windy....Ty and Ryan had fun playing guns and running around with thier friends to stay awake and they made it to midnight!!! We did the countdown and the balloons dropped like they were supposed to and confetti was everywhere! There might still be some sparklies in my hair! Ha! We danced, we sang, toasts were made, and a lot of noise! Our backyards run parallell with the 330, kinda like a high way, so the kids were along the fence line waving and banging their pots and making all kinds of noise to the cars that were driving by. They loved the sparklers! They used the fires to light them and amazingly enough there was not one burn or trampoline injury for the celebration! We called it a night around 2 and went in and crashed. What a fantastic way to end out the year and begin our last year here on Okinawa! Happy New Year!
